Schools essentials

Further study at TAFE has been shown to increase young people’s chance of getting a job.

There's never been a better time for your students to embark on a vocational education and training (VET) pathway at North Metropolitan TAFE.

Our courses get students ready for the workplace and provide credit towards university courses. Our job is to make your students more employable, from problem solving skills to technical know-how and practical experience.

At North Metropolitan TAFE, students receive practical training from experienced industry professionals, which means they will know how to answer questions in a job interview, and how to make a contribution day one, on the job. We equip students with what they need to be job ready.

We are looking for the best ways we can help schools help their students.  You know your students and we would like to tap into that knowledge and help students get the right study option advice.  We offer a variety of solutions to help schools in the north metropolitan region promote TAFE as a further study option.

Enquiries

North Metropolitan TAFE has a dedicated Student Liaison Officer that provide information to future students and support for schools.

Please contact schools@nmtafe.wa.edu.au to request specific course information or discuss one of the services we provide.

School tours

We realise that for many students checking out our incredible facilities and equipment first hand might be the inspiration they need to enrol. In our experience however, a long tour of everything is too boring for most young people. The best results come from only showing them the areas they are interested in.

For this reason, we now offer targeted campus tours to provide an opportunity for school students studying a relevant subject or vocational program to visit a North Metropolitan TAFE industry area facility.

Please note we do not offer whole campus tours.

School career expos

Over the years we have been to many expos and information evenings. Our research suggests that for many of our young people and their parents and caregivers, a general presentation to a big crowd does not always hit the mark.

We would love to talk to you about your school career expos/information evenings or event and see how our attendance would add value.

Please contact us with your event details so we can confirm our availability. The Course Guide is also available to order for your school event.

Presentations

If we are not available to attend your event, we can provide you with a customised PowerPoint presentation to suit your requirements.

We have a variety of presentations to assist secondary students get the right study options advice. We can provide an overview of future industry trends and job growth as well as NMTAFE training pathways overview.

We also run workshops to equip School-based Traineeship and Work Placement students with job application skills that grabs recruiters' attention.

We are continually producing a series of short videos to show students from across our industry areas as well as areas of speciality and contemporary facilities.

Visit our North Metropolitan TAFE channel on YouTube to see the latest videos including student and lecturer stories.

If you need help deciding what to do after school, talk to your school's VET Coordinator or Careers Counsellor. They can give you more information on TAFE and even put you in touch with one of our Jobs and Skills Centres.

The North Metropolitan TAFE Jobs and Skills Centres (JSCs) are now open at Joondalup, Balga, Midland and Perth campuses.
