In this course you'll gain the skills needed to become a qualified housing officer.
This qualification is directly aligned with priority industry areas where jobs are today, and into the future. As part of the state government Lower fees, local skills program, through to 31 December 2025 you'll only pay half the tuition fees (plus resource fee) capped at $1,200; or $400 if you're aged 15—24 or eligible for a concession.

In this course, you’ll develop the skills and knowledge you need to become a qualified housing officer, providing compassionate, trauma-informed and person-centred housing support services to applicants and tenants in the social housing and homelessness sector.
You’ll learn how to help people access accommodation within the public and community housing system and how to effectively sustain tenancies and achieve better client and tenant outcomes.
On successful completion, you will be skilled and knowledgeable to work with vulnerable people who could be experiencing or are at risk of experiencing homelessness, have complex mental health issues, experiencing family and domestic violence, or considerable financial stress or community disengagement.
- Provide support to people to access accommodation
- Effectively maintain tenancies, including tenancy agreements and services, rent and rental arrears
- Recognise and respond appropriately to domestic and family violence
- Develop, facilitate and review all aspects of case management
- Manage housing application and allocation processes

- Able to balance the demands of working and studying
- Self-motivated, pro-active and able to prioritise
- Strong decision-making skills based on sound judgment and empathy
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
