Activating your Microsoft 365 account

Microsoft 365(opens in a new tab)

All students must activate their Microsoft 365 account to access NMTAFE emails, timetables and Blackboard. Check out the Multi-factor Authentication & Microsoft 365 Setup(opens in a new tab) . These instructions are also available in other languages(opens in a new tab) .

Please note it could take up to 48 hours after enrolment for your account to become active. Remember, your default password will be tafewaddmmyyyy (where ddmmyyyy is your date of birth).

Students have access to various Microsoft 365 programs including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, which can be used via a web browser or downloaded on up to five devices, and 1TB of data storage in OneDrive.

Student passwords expire EVERY six (6) months. This affects ALL SYSTEMS including Blackboard, Microsoft 365 (student email) and the Student Portal. Check out the Passwords – Everything you need to know page on our Library website for help with setting up, changing or retrieving passwords.

If you have issues logging in, or for more information on accessing your student email account, look at these Library FAQ’s(opens in a new tab) .

Important:  Access to your Microsoft 365 account will be disabled and deleted 85 days after you complete your studies or withdraw from a course.  You are encouraged to copy any data you require to an alternate service prior to access being removed.  It is not possible for data to be restored after this time.
