Koomba Birdal

The Koomba Birdal (Big Spark) program is designed to reduce the barriers that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders may face in education and is designed to provide accessible, customised, supported training. 

It aims to increase employment and/or further education options with opportunities to connect with Aboriginal Career Guidance Officers to prepare and network with potential role models within industry to further increase successful outcomes.

AUR20520 Certificate II in Automotive Servicing Technology (Light Vehicle Servicing Pre-apprenticeship)

This course will help you get started in the Automotive industry.

As a pre-apprentice you'll learn how to work in a Mechanical Workshop, use hand and power tools, work on engines, and change tyres.

CUA20220 Certificate II in Creative Industries (Live Production)

This course prepares you for working in the creative technical area of live performance production.

You'll learn to be a part of the team that makes the show happen in theatres, music and concert venues, arts and performance spaces, etc.

HLT23221 Certificate II in Health Support Services

Want to start a career in the health sector?

In this course, you'll gain the practical, hands-on skills and confidence that could help you find work in a variety of health support roles.

TLI27121 Certificate II in Rail Infrastructure

This course is for Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander candidates looking to start a career in Rail. 

You'll learn the basics of Rail Operations.

RII20220 Certificate II in Surface Extraction Operations

In collaboration with Rio Tinto, North Metropolitan TAFE (NMTAFE) is offering a fully funded Certificate II in Surface Extraction Operations for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. 

You'll gain the knowledge and practical skills needed for entry level roles in the mining industry. You'll also get onsite industry experience with Rio Tinto, taking part in two site visits to Rio Tinto's Pilbara operations.

While completing this course cannot guarantee you employment, you'll be well-positioned for entry level employment 
opportunities in WA’s mining sector. You will also have had first-hand experience of FIFO life and opportunities to meet Rio Tinto leaders and team members.

SIT20122 Certificate II in Tourism

This course is great if you are looking to start a career in Tourism. 

On completion you could be traveling and helping your clients create experiences in incredible destinations that they will remember forever.
