With profound sadness, North Metropolitan TAFE acknowledges the loss of legendary Western Australian Aurelio Costarella, who left an indelible mark on the fashion industry with his innovative designs and dedication to craftsmanship. Born in Perth, Aurelio started his career in the 1980s, achieving international acclaim by 2000 with the launch of his self-named brand Aurelio Costarella, characterised by intricate beading and luxurious fabrics.
Aurelio was a passionate ambassador for the Western Australian fashion industry and his humanity and influence extended to advocacy for mental health. He mentored emerging designers, including our TAFE graduates, encouraging them to embrace boldness and innovation in their craft.
Aurelio’s influence will continue to inspire the design industry for generations to come. Vale Aurelio Costarella.
