North Metropolitan TAFE is widely recognised for its excellence in practical, hands-on training across a variety of industries, from apprenticeships to healthcare and beauty.
At the Joondalup (McLarty) and Perth campuses, NMTAFE’s Beauty Therapy courses offer students access to state-of-the-art facilities and open the door to a rewarding career in the glamorous and ever-evolving beauty industry.
Two Diploma of Beauty Therapy students, set to graduate this semester, have already landed dream roles in the industry, thanks to their training and dedication.
One of them, Sophie, a mother of two, has been balancing her family life with part-time work as a make-up artist and studying in the evening.
Her passion for dermal therapy led her to work experience at a dermal therapy clinic, where her skills were quickly recognised, and she was offered a job before completing her diploma.
“The lecturers bring a wealth of experience to the course and have been so encouraging. They stay on top of current trends and industry directions, making learning incredibly engaging.”
Helping others feel confident in their own skin is what drives Sophie.
“There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing a client look in the mirror and smile because they truly feel beautiful,” she added.
Another student, Skyler, began her career journey on a different path, initially studied at university with aspirations of working for the United Nations, until the pandemic led her to shift her plans.
Driven by her passion for beauty, she enrolled in NMTAFE’s Beauty Therapy course, quickly realising that she had made the perfect choice.
With the flexibility of night classes and NMTAFE’s practical, hands-on approach, she managed to balance her studies while working as a retail manager.
When NMTAFE offered the opportunity to apply for a weekend position at a local day spa, Skyler seized it and was accepted.
Her passion and persistence paid off, and she was recently offered a position at a national beauty therapy chain.
Now, with her diploma nearly complete, she has left her previous jobs to fully focus on her beauty career.
“I’m motivated to grow and achieve, and I’m focused on reaching bigger and better things in the industry,” Skyler said.
The Diploma of Beauty Therapy(opens in a new tab) is designed for both newcomers and experienced individuals looking to advance in the field.
The course provides a direct pathway to roles such as senior beauty therapist or beauty salon manager, and students gain real-world experience in modern facilities, including live clinics, where they gain hands-on experience, performing a wide range of beauty treatments and salon services.
